Information for Au Pairs wishing to come to the UK and abroad

• How old do I have to be? You must be 18 years old or older.

• Do I need to know a foreign language? You should have basic language skills of the country you wish to go to.

• What does it cost? You pay your own travel costs to and from the family home. You also pay your own language school fees and examination fees.

• What experience should I have? Some previous childcare experience and some experience with general household duties.

• How do I become an Au Pair? Fax, telephone or e-mail Quickhelp and we will put you in touch with our local agency in your home country.

Au pair means:

• To live as a member of the family in a foreign country
• To receive free board and lodging in the home
• To have free time to attend a school and study the language of that country
• To help the family with light housework duties, baby-sitting and childcare. Baby-sitting will be required approximately 2 nights weekly
• Hours of work are generally 25-30 hours weekly with 2 free days each week
• EU applicants may work as Au Pair Plus, which requires working for 35 hours, or as:
•                                                  Au Pair Plus Plus for 39 hours, weekly
• Pocket money: 

• Au Pair (non-EU) 25 hours: £60 weekly
• Au Pair (EU) 30 hours: £70 weekly
• Au Pair Plus 35 hours: £80 weekly
• Au Pair Plus Plus 39 hours: £100 weekly

In the UK Quickhelp offers:

1. Full welcome pack on arrival, which includes a list of other au pairs with their telephone number
2. Ongoing support throughout your stay
3. Assistance in opening a UK bank account
4. The services of our Youth Tour Operator and a Central London Youth Centre
5. Occasional meetings for our applicants are held in London during the academic year
